Mankind seemed to have a submission problem from the very beginning, not that there were too many laws to obey, but there was just this one that troubled them. They probably had seen the tree and thought about it from time to time, but the submission God wanted was not just once or twice but forever. Then one fateful day, a serpent slithered along and shared it's thoughts about the tree, masterfully shedding shade on God's intention and focused them on what could be gained by un - submitting to God's rule. It was actually a divine caution designed to prevent heart ache and eternal misery such as was experienced by slew - foot It's self!
What I've found in scripture is that if we follow the pattern of Adam and Eve we can fall into spiritual traps of the enemy which can cost us something. It could be our health or status in life or even eternal life.
How does it happen?
Either by submitting to the wrong thing or un-submitting to God somehow.
Pastor Henry Wrights works are full of possible sin traps the enemy inflicted on a person or persons or their ancestors which ends up badly for whoever is involved.
Let's see what scripture says about this:
For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
submitting to one another in the fear of God.
Bible Hub : Submit def. subordinate, to obey.
Websters def. submit : To yield, resign or surrender to the power, will or authority of another; To surrender; to yield one's person to the power of another; to give up resistance.
Websters : SUBOR'DINATE, verb transitive To place in order or rank below something else; to make or consider as of less value or importance; as, to subordinate one creature to another; to subordinate temporal to spiritual things.
1. To make subject; as, to subordinate the passions to reason
Many times when I've faced a sickness or disease or near death, I've found myself face to face with my own wishes verses God's terms and this is where the struggle starts. I've always had to reconcile what God's terms were and what my expectations were. My terms have to line up with God's terms otherwise nothing changes. A certain amount of self searching and obedience may be the keys to opening the door to the Lord's intervention. Look at these scriptures:
Proverbs 3:7,8 Do not be wise in your own eyes; (or think you are wiser than God) Fear the Lord and depart from evil. (Sometimes we don't want to depart from certain types of evil) but… 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.
Proverbs12:18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, (sharp, bitter, condemning) But the tongue of the wise promotes health.
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (Maybe you don't want to submit to God or even involve Him.
Submitting to God of course is submitting to His Word.
Examples of submitting or surrendering:
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
Making your tongue speak the wisdom of God's word.
Submit to God (or surrender)
His will always was and is still now for you to prosper and be in health. The journey of self evaluation is a part of the effective healing journey. Some say no conditions are necessary other than to believe, only believe! If transformation of mind was needed in Jesus day then it is needed now!
God is not holding back your healing but sometimes people do. No worries we are here to help. God will get you through!
Who was old slew - foot and how did he end up as the devil in old time Pentecostal sermons and country songs?
answer. Southern legend of a giant , fast bear, who came to kill and destroy, stealing livestock and has never been caught!
