(Defining Revelation) you remember some of our previous talks, you could say with some certainty that sickness is the devils' doing. After all "it" put boils all over Job's body and killed his children and servants. The enemy also stole and killed his animals and rendered him poor. Granted that Adam and Eve had set up mankind with a heck of a handicap and no real way out. Who then is behind sickness and disease?
I would like to insert a possible set of culprits not mentioned in the Bible. These people were nomads, shepherds, wayfarers, descendents of the first parents, who largely did not fear the Lord. What they did was to pass their evil on to the next generation for centuries in the form of thoughts and attitudes. No blood of the Saviour, was available yet for them to be cleansed, and no sacrifice could save them generationally from their parents' sin. So the iniquities of the fathers was passed to the third and fourth generation. People could not help themselves because they were tempted by an outlaw spirit that was given authority from Adam and Eve because of their sin to mess with them. These folks were our ancestors!
Because of the knowledge of how sicknesses follow sin, and how sin runs in family lines, many times we could conclude by just looking back that sickness can be generational. We see this with people who smoke and drink and do drugs. The family history is telltale of your generation! The family line usually gets worse unless someone repents and confesses the sins of the fathers and their own sins asking God to forgive and release them! But oh how things can change if they do!
Paul said, "For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices." 2 Corinthians 2:10-11
When do we need generational prayer, you might ask? I'll tell you. It's when you find yourself doing the same sins as they did and can't or don't want to stop! We can eliminate the threat through deliverance, which means sincere forgiveness and repentance.
Leviticus 26:39 "And those of you who are left shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away like them." Pine away- Websters definition - wear away under any distress of anxiety of mind; to grow lean
Don't let this be you! We are living on the victory side of the New Testament Cross of Christ with greater and more favorable promises! No more fading away into darkness, where Jesus is Lord!
Galatians 3:13-14 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
What? Don't we already have healing? prosperity? abundance? How about forgiveness of sin? Why does it say that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith? This means that whatever was provided for us at the Cross is waiting for us to take hold of it by faith! Faith is the substance of what we hope for, and faith brings that substance into the physical world from the spiritual with your name on it!
So if our ancestors were ungodly and were busy doing evil and passing it down through the bloodline of the family. Then, if one of the family was saved, by God's Grace, why would the one saved have to forgive the sins of their ancestors and repent for their part in it if their sins were already forgiven by Christ sacrifice on the cross? We receive the promise of the Spirit through faith! Faith can be activated by forgiveness and repentance. These two are the open door to deliverance. Sin has consequences. Do Christians sin after being born again? Yes they do. We are for instance to forgive others so that we can be forgiven! We need sanctification to deal with the sin consequences from the past and present.
Websters definition. - Sanctification is the act of making holy. The act of God's grace by which the affections of men are purified or alienated from sin and the world, and exalted to a supreme love to God.
2 Thessalonians 2:13. "But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth," 1 Peter 1:2. "according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ."
The process of sanctification will not only deal with sin issues but also spiritually rooted diseases as well.
In Jesus day there had to be a transformation of mind and heart so people believed He was able and willing to heal. Matthew 9:27-30 "When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us! And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened."
Luke 5:12-13 " And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean. Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leprosy left him."
The main issue with most of those He healed was faith in Jesus. Some believed He was God and others a prophet. Some He had to encourage to believe and others just had faith because of what they heard and or saw!
What is the issue today? Not many places are teaching what Dr Henry Wright taught us. Where do you hear the reasons healing doesn't come? Is it Church?
I've been around long enough to know that many times tradition triumphs over good sense and the people go away hungry! Sanctification for healing needs to be taught because most of the sick are suffering because of lack of knowledge of it. Sure people repent and renounce and resist but we have to go deeper. Many times people come for prayer and we end up dealing with things they thought were gone but were not! Deliverance ministries are on the rise in America right now. God is hearing the cry of His people, saying 'why aren't we well?' There is a new breed of minister being trained by the Holy Spirit and knowledge, who are willing to go God's direction, walk on the water with faith and go into new territory to help those in need. Are you one of them?
We need to nudge people who are sick in the direction of holiness. God doesn't do healing without it. Dr Henry Wright said, "This is the process of sanctification, starting to remove spiritual, biological and psychological diseases of life, both generationally and personally. When we get before God and take an honest look at ourselves, when we survey past generations and deal with the sin we find, we then come before God to let Him work us over."
So the enemy's influence comes through the spirit realm and enters our brain as thoughts. It peddles it's deception as truth as a skilled salesman would a bad product. One of the problems we know that happens is our mind can agree with what is being told. Agreement with these dark thoughts deposits them into our memories for future consideration. If not cast down, they can get into our long term memory and then become "permanent" in our biology.
In the early 1970's I had a friend who was a natural born salesman, and boasted to me that he could sell a small, dirty, rock he picked up from the ground to one of the passersby at a flea market we were at. I dared him and in about 10 minutes some hapless person became the owner of a dirty useless rock! Sale price .25 cents! I wonder how long before buyers' remorse set in?
Sometimes I've found the enemy likes to use people to tempt or capture other people. "It," (devil) seems to reason that If I can sell them a rock then what about unforgiveness and bitterness?
These products of the enemy's kingdom come with "perks." What do I mean "perks?" Well if you buy the shiny new knife I'm selling, then in order to complete the set, we will send you a "free" knife holder and another knife, one every month for the next 12 months. They don't tell you right away your credit card is being dinged 3x the price of the 1st knife for each subsequent purchase. Not to mention the interest rate each month!
The devils' interest compounds over time and before you know it you are in deep trouble! Watch out for people who might have an agenda.
The problem with sin is death! James 1:14-15 "But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires (eagerness for, excessive desire, lust ) and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death." Do you think the enemy knows this?
James 1:12 says, " Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."
Endure is - to bear with patience; to bear without sinking under the pressure.'
Overcoming temptation has its own benefits. Healing is one, Crown of Life is another. Walking through life without guilt and shame is another!
Psalm 103: 2-5 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your desires with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.!
Who is behind sickness? The devil and people "it" uses. The devil tempts people directly, spiritually and also uses some to tempt others.
One caution, warning light, road out sign, is that we need to do something called separation when it comes to other people as well as ourselves. If they are being used by the enemy, then at some point they have been duped also, since the enemy is common to man. Separate the sin from the person and that includes you.
In Romans 7:14-17 Paul separates himself from his own sin." For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me."
So if Paul can do it so can we! What is the sin that dwells in us? The answer is beings from satan's kingdom! Our bodies are temples of God and not evil!
Romans 7:18-20 says," 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for too will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
He is saying that spiritual evil has joined with him, but is not him! We can receive forgiveness through repentance and the blood of Christ.
The other question we started with today, Is sickness just something natural?
Answer: It was not natural in the Garden, and so we were not intended to have it anymore than we were supposed to have stress. The enemy knows that sickness will follow the law of sin and so this makes sickness have a supernatural origin not just natural The word supernatural means: 'Being beyond or exceeding the powers or laws of nature;' A supernatural event is one which is not produced according to the ordinary or established laws of natural things. This means that sin is a supernatural event!
I leave you with another quote from Dr Henry Wright:
"The Lord is saying to you today, "I'm here knocking. Would you open the door of your heart? Would you let me come in with the Holy Spirit and cleanse you, sanctify you, and remove the things that are separating you from Me? Could I heal you, deliver you, establish my heart for you? Would you enter into that degree of covenant with Me? Could I be a God to you, a Saviour, a healer, a Redeemer, could I be a Husband to you? Would you fellowship with me?"
